The goal of the workshop is to discuss the unique challenges and the state-of-the-art in the area of inference and analysis on user-generated content (UGC). We invite submissions on all topics related to application of machine learning methods to UGC data. Some examples of such applications include:
  • identifying product aspects and polarity in reviews
  • identifying spamming and trolling in comments and discussion forums
  • modeling comment-article relationships
  • identifying best answers and experts in discussion forums
  • using question-answer forum data for automatic Question Answering
  • identifying entities and polarity in social media posts
UGC includes a wide variety of data created by end users of web and desktop/mobile applications, typically characterized by informality and lack of editorial supervision. We invite submissions describing novel research on all aspects of UGC. A partial list of examples of UGC include:
  • Social media posts
  • Questions and answers and discussion forums
  • Blogs
  • Audio / video clips
  • Photos
  • Product reviews
  • Restaurant and hotel reviews
  • User comments
  • Email and chat conversations
We particularly encourage contributions that meet one or more of the following criteria:
  • Work provides novel and innovative solutions for technical problems that arises due to the unique characteristics of the data
  • Work demonstrates a promising or proven industrial application of existing technology on UGC data
  • Demonstration of non-intuitive and novel insights resulting from analysis inference of UGC data
